Civil unrest in Port Moresby, Lae and Rabaul

There have been reports of civil unrest in Port Moresby, Lae, and Rabaul, with a high security alert in place from 10-11 January 2024.

The situation in Port Moresby has involved rioting, looting, and property destruction. Roadblocks have been set up, hindering movement to Port areas and resulting in vehicles being targeted. As a result, there may be delays in communications to Principals, and vessel operations could be disrupted during this period.
