On February 17th at 0730, MV CLARA INSIGNIA (IMO 9800427/ Marshall Islands) ran aground at km 338 of the Main channel of the Parana River.
The vessel was heading outbound in laden condition, navigating with a draft of 10.23 mts and carrying 31,121 mt of wheat.
The vessel had operated at San Lorenzo Port, and her next port of call would be Bahia Blanca, where she is expected to continue loading before sailing to her discharge port in Perú.
Currently, the acting pilots are attempting to refloat the vessel with the assistance of two tugboats. At present, all navigation for all large vessels has been closed, as the channel is completely obstructed.
Update 14:00 GMT – 20/02/2024
The vessel was floated yesterday, Feb 19th, late PM local time. She was anchored at San Nicolas south roads for hull and machinery inspections.
The Coast Guard will carry out a bathymetry, and until the results are received, navigation will remain closed.

Navigation was restored on the Parana River, both ways, on Feb 20th at 2 pm LT.
