Effective from August 1st, 2023, the Suez Canal Authority (SCA) has introduced new regulations regarding stay and berthing fees for vessels waiting for more than 48 hours at Suez Canal waiting areas (Port Said).
Under the new regulations, vessels that are waiting at the SC waiting areas and performing operations such as crew change, anchor failure, shipping, and machinery failure will be subject to fees. A charge of 30 cents for each ton of the gross tonnage will be collected after 48 hours (two days) from the time of berthing at the waiting areas, starting from the vessel’s arrival.
This fee structure aims to regulate the utilization of the waiting areas and encourage timely operations.
